Transcribe an audio/video to text in Inspect

Use Transcribe to transform the audio from an audio or video file to a text file. Use the Search Builder to filter audio or video files. To use Search Builder, refer to Use Search Builder in Inspect.

Perform the following procedure to transcribe audio to text.

1. In the Main Menu, select Analyze>Inspect.
2. Select the documents you want to transcribe.
3. In the Document Actions pane, click Transcribe.
4. In Job Name, type a name to identify the job.
5. In Transcription Action, select the appropriate action.
   • To create a new transcription, select Create.
   • To replace an existing transcription you created in Epiq Discovery, select Replace.
   • To remove an existing transcription you created in Epiq Discovery, select Remove.
6. In Language, select the language to use for the resulting text file. Available languages include:
   • English
   • Japanese
   • Simplified Chinese
   • Spanish
   • Portuguese
   • Arabic
   • Hindi
   • Indonesian
   • Russian
   • German
   • Italian
   • Korean
   • French
7. Click Submit. When the transcription creates the text file, you receive a Job completed message.
8. Optional. To review the job progress, click Jobs.
9. To view the transcription, perform the following steps.
   1. Select the transcribed document.
   2. Select to view the transcribed text file. Any automatic highlighting appears on the file.

10. To view details about the submitted job, in the Main Menu, select Overview and then click Jobs Overview.

11. In the Jobs Overview page, when the Job Status indicator reaches 100%, in the Job Name column, click the job you submitted. The resulting Information dialog box contains details about the job, including the number of documents that were selected and if any documents were skipped.
